Deals

Deals in Reys are pitch decks and investment opportunities that arrive automatically via email forwarding.

How deals arrive

Deals are not created manually in Reys. Instead, they come in when you forward a pitch deck email — with any PDF attachments — to your Reys inbox address. You can find your Reys inbox address in the sidebar.

Once an email arrives, Reys processes it automatically in the background. You don’t need to do anything to trigger this — the moment a forwarded email lands, the pipeline kicks off.

The processing pipeline

After a deal arrives, Reys runs it through a multi-step AI pipeline:

  1. Classification — Reys reads the pitch deck and determines what type of deal it is: VC Fund, VC Direct, PE Fund, or other. Only VC Fund and VC Direct deals receive full analysis.
  2. Extraction — For supported deal types, Reys extracts structured data from the pitch deck: fund name, strategy, geography, stage, check size, returns, team, and more.
  3. Matching — The extracted data is scored against your active mandates to surface relevant opportunities. See the Matching guide for details.

While processing is underway, the deal shows a processing status indicator. This updates automatically — you don’t need to refresh the page.

Viewing your deals

Dashboard

The dashboard gives you a card-based overview of your most recent deals. Each card shows:

  • Company or fund name
  • A short description of the opportunity
  • Key criteria such as stage, sector, geography, and check size
  • A fit badge (Strong, Partial, or Low) based on how well the deal matched your best mandate
  • A match score percentage
  • The closing date, if one was found in the pitch deck
  • The current deal status

You can sort cards by closing date or by match score, and filter by deal status.

Deals table

The Deals page shows all your deals in a searchable, filterable table. Columns include:

  • Deal Name — the company or fund name extracted from the pitch deck
  • From — who forwarded or sent the email
  • Type — the deal classification (VC Fund, VC Direct, etc.)
  • Fit — Strong, Partial, or Low, based on the best mandate match
  • Processing Status — Queued, Processing, Completed, or Failed
  • Status — your current deal status
  • Received — when the email arrived

You can show or hide columns, sort by any column, and apply filters for type, fit, status, or processing status. There’s also a free-text search for deal name and sender.

Deal detail view

Click any deal to open its detail view. This is organized into tabs:

  • Mandate Matches — see every mandate this deal was scored against, with field-by-field results and an overall score
  • Overview — a structured summary of the deal extracted from the pitch deck, such as fund details, strategy, team, and key metrics
  • Original Email — the raw email body as it was received
  • Attachments — a PDF viewer for the attached pitch deck

Deal statuses

You can update the status of any deal to reflect where it is in your review process:

StatusMeaning
NewJust arrived, not yet reviewed
In DiligenceActively being evaluated
On HoldPaused, revisit later
To PassLikely declining, not yet actioned
PassedDeclined
InvestedDeal closed
ArchiveRemoved from active view

Status changes can be made from the deal card on the dashboard or from the status column in the deals table. Reys will ask for confirmation before moving a deal to Passed or Archive.

Unsupported deal types

PE Fund and unclassified deals do not currently receive AI extraction or mandate matching — support for these types is coming soon. When you open one of these deals, a notice will explain that analysis is not yet available. You can still view the original email and attached PDF.

Re-running a deal

If a deal failed to process, or you want to re-run matching after updating your mandates, you can use the Rerun Deal option from the row actions menu in the deals table. This re-runs the full processing pipeline from the beginning.
